Global issues: Ebola in West Africa

The Ebola is a disease that had become very popular in the year of 2014.
It has it origins in Africa, especially in the west areas of the continent. This disease caused the death of more than 10.000 people, including children. The symptoms were the same in all cases: constipation, diarrhea, fever... People suffered a lot and the worst was that there were no cures for it.
The Ebola had also affected people in Europe, like the American nurse in the USA or the dog called Excalibur, finally sacrificied.
Fortunately, the problem is now something of the past.

Ana's solutions

Solving Ebola is a priority for many west countries of Africa, so I think one solution could be to vaccinate people who live there; to clean up the drinking water; and to breath with a mask if you are with an ill person.

Sandrine's opinion about Ana's solutions

In my opinion, Ana has given short, but clear and direct solutions.
They are easy solutions but even so, people do not realise how importante they are to prevent this kind of problems.

Playa de los Muertos, in Almería

Playa de los Muertos, in Almería (Spain) is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.
The first time I went there was one year ago, with my boyfriend. He always talked over this place, saying how wonderful the views were and how white the sand was.
Finally, we decided to go and, he was so right! I fell in love when I saw it. Everything looked as a beach in Hawaii: the water was so clear and the weather was amazing that day. There weren't so much people, so we could enjoy much more. Everything we saw was beautiful (huge rocks, soft sand, flower and plants...). It was just like a dream.
The only inconvenient was hard road we had to walk o get to the beach: there were many stones and you had to wear sneakers (unfortunately, we only worn flip-flops). However, I spent there one of the best days of my life (we have been there one more time, this summer) and I would always remember this magic place.

Comparative and constrative structures

The two images are completly different: in one of them, a man is playing the violon alone, in a quiet room. In the other, two or three boys are playing the electric guitar on a stage, and all of them are sweating and surrounded by other group members.
The first image transmits peace and serenity, associated to the sound of the violon, which is in many cases, a relaxing melody played in classical operas. The second, in constract, transmits aggressiveness, feelings of inquietude and wildness. Those feelings are similar to the electric guitar: all songs with this instrument are full of strenght.
The appearances of the men are also different: the man of the image 1 wears formal clothes (a white shirt and dress pants) ans looks relaxed and focused on what he is doing. On the other hand, the boys of the image 2 are wearing leather jackets and jeans. Their face expresses madness and even rage.
Although both pictures represent one of the biggest art in our lifes, music, they are totally different from each other, and as we have already seen, transmit different feelings.

The meaning of the title of my blog

I know that ''16 roses'' is a strange name for a blog, but it has a big meaning for me.

The number 16 is the date when I began a relationship with my boyfriend, Pedro, one year and a month ago. We celebrate this date every month, and he always gives me one rose as present.
It can sounds cheesy, even outdated, but it's very special for me. He also gives me roses in special events, like my graduation or in St Valentine. It's surprising that my birthday (16 October) also matches with the date.
I hope keeping celebrating this special number many more years and surrounded by the people I love.

All we need is somebody to lean on

One of my favourite songs: I like the rythm of it but also the lyrics: in summary, it tells that everybody needs one special person to make them feel alive and, as the name of the song, a person to "lean on".

 ''Lean on''

Do you recall, not long ago
We would walk on the sidewalk
Innocent, remember?
All we did was care for each other

But the night was warm
We were bold and young
All around the wind blows
We would only hold on to let go

Blow a kiss, fire a gun
We need someone to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
All we need is somebody to lean on

(Eeh ooh, eeh ooh, eeh ooh, eeh ooh)

What will we do when we get old?
Will we walk down the same road?
Will you be there by my side?
Standing strong as the waves roll over

When the nights are long
Longing for you to come home
All around the wind blows
We would only hold on to let go

Blow a kiss, fire a gun
We need someone to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
All we need is somebody to lean on

(Eeh ooh, eeh ooh, eeh ooh, eeh ooh)
All we need is somebody to lean on
(Eeh ooh, eeh ooh, eeh ooh, eeh ooh)
All we need is somebody to lean on
Lean on, lean on, lean on, lean on...

Blow a kiss, fire a gun
We need someone to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
All we need is somebody to lean on

Description of Viki

My best friend's name is Viki and she's one of the best persons I've ever met. She's a very pretty girl: tall, blond and with beautiful brown eyes. Although her marks at school are not so good, I consider her a very intelligent and mature girl.
I love to spend time with her. When we were younger, we used to do many things together: she stayed in my house every weekend, we went out for a walk and I saw every day. Nowadays, we both have a boyfriend, I study here in Murcia and that's the reason why I don't see her as much as we used to. Buy I still love her and consider her my best friend and the best person who
knows me.

From my point of view, I think that you could be a good English teacher. You use a lot of vocabulary as adjectives and nouns; but it isn't all because you've got a good grammar.
If you practise and study a little more, you can become an artist so let's go! Remember the famous phrase: ''Don't dream your life, live your dreams''.
On the other hand, I would change the relation with your best friend, because you can have many boyfriends, but only one good friend. If I were you, I would spend more time with Viki.
In the structure form I can see that you have chosen a good organisation because you put a topic sentence talking about your friend. Then, you speak about her adding more information (supporting sentences) and finally you use a concluding sentence: ''Nowadays, we both have a boyfriend...'' ''... and that's the reason why I don't see her as much as we used to. But I still love her and consider her my best friend and the best person who knows me''.

What does ''Guernica'' make you feel?

When I look at ''Guernica'', I feel very pesimist. It represents the bombings suffered during the Spanish civil war, so this painting of Picasso shows a big feeling of humanity and compassion.
Wars are something horrible that destroy peoples lifes. By this painting, you can feel the suffering of all this men, women and children who has passed thorugh this terrible event, making you feel impotent and heart broken.
